Theatrical purple, cut long and sharp.
The long faceted amethyst is the reason this exists. It's a narrow, elongated, almost blade-like cut, fully saturated, and every facet down its length throws purple back at you. Amethyst has a regal streak, and in this shape it turns theatrical.
Stones cut like this are difficult, because they already look like a finished pendant on their own. My answer was to anchor it with a round amethyst cabochon above, then wrap the sides in hand-textured silver so your eye travels down the blade instead of stopping at the edges.
The bail is hand-stamped with scrollwork, struck one impression at a time, and small granulated balls are worked through the piece to keep the surface alive. Every solder joint on those wraps had to be made without overheating the stone — slow work, done in short sessions across several evenings.
