Three stones, three temperaments, stacked. Soft violet amethyst at the top, composed and quiet. A matrix fire opal at the center, dark and swirling with pink and magenta fire. Then a faceted London blue topaz at the base, cool and bright and sparkling like cold water.
The opal came first and the other two were chosen to frame it. Amethyst above calms it down; topaz below sharpens it. Granulated silver balls balance the composition on either side — each one melted from wire, placed by hand, and there are more than I'd like to admit.
On, it's dramatic without being heavy — layered color that changes depending on what you're wearing behind it. Bold, and a little theatrical if you're in the mood.
