Boulder opal is opal that never left home: it forms in cracks inside ironstone and is cut with the host rock still attached, so you get plain brown stone and then, abruptly, fire. This one keeps its freeform outline, because the color sits where it sits and squaring it off would have cost the good part. Simple setting, with a delicate filigree bail as the only flourish.
