Two stones that flatter each other by disagreeing.
A coin pearl and a sapphire: a very old pairing and still the best one. The pearl is soft, warm and slightly irregular, its luster built from hundreds of layers of nacre. The sapphire is fixed and formal. I kept the silver to almost nothing so the pearl's surface stays uninterrupted, and set the sapphire small enough to read as punctuation rather than a second event.
Sterling silver. Every bezel formed around its own stone, since pearls refuse to be standard sizes. One pair only.
