Shield-Cut Crazy Lace Agate Pendant with Garnets in Sterling Silver

A map of nowhere that exists.

Crazy lace agate is the stone I buy with the least self-control. The bands swirl instead of running straight, cream and rust and tan folding over each other, and every slice is a map of nothing that exists.

This one is shield-shaped, and along one edge I set three small garnets — warm, confident, old-world red. They pick up the rust in the agate bands and pull it forward, so the whole pendant reads warmer than the stone alone. Three, not two or four, because odd numbers sit better on an irregular shape.

The frame is textured by hand and follows the shield's outline closely. I almost never design around a sketch; I let each stone tell me what it wants to become, and this one wanted armour.

42 mm (H) x 33 mm (W) — 1 5/8 x 1 1/4 inches

It wears bold and slightly heraldic. There's something protective about it, which I didn't plan and won't argue with.

No other agate on earth carries this pattern.
