Filigree Earrings with Aquamarine and Turquoise Dangles in Sterling Silver

Silver lace, holding its own shape.

The filigree is the work here — fine silver wire bent and soldered into an open lace pattern that has to hold its shape with nothing behind it. Set into the openwork sits a soft aquamarine, calm and watery, with a turquoise teardrop hanging below, the more grounded of the two blues.

Sterling silver. I built the lattice first and chose the stones afterward, which is backwards from how I usually work. Every joint took its own sliver of solder and a held breath. One pair only.
