Garnet is confident. It doesn't shift or play tricks, it just holds a deep saturated red with a kind of old-world assurance. Ammolite is the opposite — seventy-million-year-old shell, iridescent, changing constantly, rare enough that it comes from one small region of the world and nowhere else. Ancient color that still behaves like it's alive.
Silver would have split them apart. In 14K gold they read as one warm family, and the gold picks up the ammolite's gold flash so the two stones keep handing color back and forth. I shaped every curve of that ammolite's bezel against the stone itself — freeform means no template, just metal pushed slowly until it fits one irregular outline.
On the hand it feels rich and slightly ceremonial. Not a quiet ring.
