I set them in a tiered arrangement so the two stones sit at different heights rather than in a flat line. It's a small structural choice that makes the earring read as designed instead of assembled.
Every solder joint on those tiers had to hold at an angle, which is harder than it sounds — gravity is not your friend when you're soldering three levels of silver. I shaped every curve of the connecting links by hand.
