Electric blue on a mirror, and nothing else.
This labradorite is the most saturated blue I have ever set. Not a flash that comes and goes as you move — the whole oval is lit, edge to edge, a hard electric blue that looks almost backlit. Running through it are fine dark veins, like cracks in ice, and a scattering of small dark inclusions. Those are the marks a dealer apologizes for. I bought the stone because of them.
A stone doing that much needs a design that does almost nothing, so I forged a wide cuff from flat sheet and left it completely plain — no texture, no stamping, no engraving anywhere. Just a broad sweep of silver, polished to a mirror, with a raised platform on top for the bezel to sit on.
Plain is the hardest finish to get right. Texture forgives everything; a mirror surface shows every scratch, every file mark, every place your hand wandered. This one was worked through progressively finer abrasives and then burnished by hand until the silver reflected the room. The edges are rolled and smoothed so the cuff slides on without catching, and the whole thing is forged rather than cast, which is why it has spring in it and holds its own curve.
On the wrist it is unambiguous. Wide, bright, with the blue sitting up high where it catches every light source in the room. This is not a quiet piece — it is the one you wear when you want to feel powerful, and it makes you carry your arm differently.
Open at the back so it slips on and can be eased slightly to fit. One stone with that much blue in it, one mirror-polished cuff built to carry it, and no way for me to make the pair again.
