Freeform labradorite with blue flash sweeping across the whole surface — not a patch of it, all of it. Consistency like this is uncommon; usually the flash lives in bands and leaves dead ground between.
Labradorite is storm clouds and northern lights in the same stone, and a piece this size gives it room to perform. I kept the outline natural rather than cutting to shape, and hand-textured the band so bright polished metal wouldn't compete with the flash.
Texturing a band is the least glamorous work I do and one of the most decisive — every mark is permanent, and you can't sand it out and start again without thinning the silver.
On the hand it feels substantial and quietly powerful. Not a delicate ring. Size 9.25.
The stone's shape is an accident of geology, and the ring was built to that accident alone.
