Two stones side by side, chosen because they behave in opposite ways. The amethyst is deep saturated purple, solid and composed, the same color from every angle. The moonstone next to it is soft white-blue and can't hold still — the sheen shifts every time your hand does.
I set them level with each other rather than stacking one above the other, so neither reads as the main stone. It's a piece about contrast in temperament, not hierarchy: one steady, one dreaming.
Fitting two bezels flush against each other is fussier than it looks. The walls have to meet cleanly with no gap and no gap-filling solder, and I shaped every curve of both by hand until they sat together properly.
Worn, it feels bold but not loud — a ring with two personalities that you can look at all day.
