Purple flash. This is the one I would fight to keep.
Labradorite gives up blue and green readily, gold now and then, and violet almost never — the internal layering has to sit at a thickness that hardly ever survives being cut. Against a near-black charcoal body, when the purple sweeps across it, the effect is genuinely theatrical.
I set it in a plain bezel on a deliberately thin band. I wanted the stone to look like it was floating on the finger rather than mounted in something heavy, which meant keeping every solder joint small and tucked underneath where it wouldn't add visual weight.
It wears mysterious — storm cloud at rest, then a flash of something you'd swear wasn't there a second ago.
Size 9.25. I may never find purple like this again. There is one of this ring.
