Sweeping bands of cream, tan and rust across a trapezoid stone — turn it the right way and it becomes a horizon line at the end of the day. Because the stone is already a painting, I kept the design bare: a hand-textured sterling frame, a simple curved bail, nothing to argue with the picture. The texture was worked in with hammer and punch until the silver stopped glaring and started reading like weathered rock.
