Red earth, green shoots, deep warm red.
Red jasper with green matrix veining is the base, and the color pairing already existed inside the stone before I did anything. All I did was follow it.
So I set a peridot at the top, which is a young, sharp green, and two garnet cabochons at the base, which are deep and warm and confident. Red above red, green answering green, and the jasper in the middle holding both stories at once.
The frame is architectural, built in panels with visible structure, and every one of those panels was cut, filed and soldered separately. This piece came together over several evenings; the garnets got moved three times before I soldered them.
